Maternity photoshoot in Hertfordshire

Watford family photography by Megan Foster

A maternity photoshoot is  a special time in our lives that’s worth documenting and celebrating, its something to look back on and be proud of how far and much you have achieved.. Maternity photoshoot is where a professional photographer captures images of an expectant mother, showcasing her pregnancy and celebrating the upcoming arrival of the baby.

Here are some things to consider for a maternity photoshoot:
Find a skilled photographer: Look for a photographer who specialises in maternity or family photography. Browse their portfolio to ensure their style aligns with your vision for the shoot. Here’s mine.

Choose a location:

Decide whether you want an indoor or outdoor shoot. Indoor shoots can take place in a studio or at home, while outdoor shoots can be done in parks, gardens, or any picturesque location that suits your preferences.
Timing: The best time to schedule a maternity photoshoot is usually between 28 and 36 weeks, when the baby bump is prominent but the expectant mother is still comfortable enough for posing.

Outfit selection:

Consider wearing outfits that accentuate your baby bump and make you feel confident. Flowing dresses, form-fitting tops, or even lingerie can be great choices.

Props and personal items:

Incorporating meaningful props or personal items can add a personal touch to the photoshoot. This could include baby shoes, ultrasound images, or a stuffed animal. Here’s an example.

Posing and expressions:

Your photographer will guide you through various poses, so don’t worry if you’re not sure how to pose. Relax and enjoy the experience, and let the photographer capture you’re genuine expressions and emotions. Remember this is about you, enjoy the experience.

Involving family members:

If you have other family members, such as your partner or older children, you may want to include them in the photoshoot to capture the excitement and love surrounding the new addition to your family. It will be a memory to remember and look back on. It creates the perfect wholesome photo, take a look.

Editing and finalising:

Once the photoshoot is complete, the photographer will provide you with a selection of edited images. Discuss with the photographer if you have any specific editing preferences or if you would like any additional retouching.

Remember, the goal of a maternity photoshoot is to celebrate and cherish this special time in your life. So relax, have fun, and enjoy the process of creating lasting memories.

With love,
Megan x
